An anechoic wind tunnel, with test section 5.5m in width and 4m inheight, began to run since 2013 at China Aerodynamics Research and DevelopmentCenter (CARDC). Because of its low background noise level and excellent flowquality. The wind tunnel is suitable to explore the aerodynamic noise generatedby helicopter rotor. In this presentation, firstly, typical experimentsassociating with the aerodynamic noise generated by various vehicles which havebeen fulfilled in the wind tunnel are briefly introduced. To study the flow-generatednoise by the helicopter rotor, rotor rigs and various measurement techniqueshas been established in succession. It is presented in the part 2 in thispresentation. Finally, this presentation gives an idea of supressing the rotornoise.
